John Sweet
some facts

the bird says nothing,
but its throat fills w/ blood
the old man is blind
sits in his house long after
itís burned down to
ash and memory
writes poems about the
women heís loved
but then misplaces them
and the spaces between gods
are just lies w/ pretty
names
the phone ringing at 2 a.m.
is a profound threat
someone has died
whether you answer it or
not
