the fallen tree-branches
that littered the back-yard
The young man had went over
one morning, unannounced, to
survey the work ahead.

by dementia & diabetes, saw
someone in his yard.
So he went & grabbed his shotgun,
opened the window, took
careful aim, & shot his
nephew in the back.

a tragedy, but mentioned
the young man should have
called first.
