Ambition

I used to be an
Angry young man, now
I am a bitter
Old man; I might

Have been dangerous
If I had only acquired
A little ambition,
Nothing would surprise

My junior high
School gym teacher
Or the reunion committee
Sending an invitation to

My motherís address from
Twenty years ago
There is something that
They know, that everyone

(Else) seems to know. My
Daughter wants to be
Both a doctor and
A crossing guard.
