Steve Brightman
Ode to a Fellow Ohioan

The weathergirl
with the overbite
issued
Flash Flood
Warnings for Medina,
Summit, Portage, and
Geauga counties.

Thunderstorms
were rolling in.

I had to get
the videos back
by midnight or
I’d have to pay
another late fee.

“As long as you’re going out,”
she said
“could you pick up some
frozen chicken,
and some green and
red peppers?”

Dry in my car,
returning from Giant Eagle
and listening
to the AM station,
I heard
the storms ripped you
from your boat
and held you
to the bottom
of LaDue Reservoir.
