                                             the smell of diesel on the cuff
                                             of a leather jacket

                    the smell of heat
                    in the winter

                                                         women with their shoes off
                                                         feet on the dashboard

the hangover/taste of tequila
still in my mouth

                   Mexican Chicken (1 part Cuervo
                   1 part Wild Turkey)

                                            ice cubes in a rocks glass
                                            clank of a Zippo thumbed open

                                             fumes of lighter fluid thick
                                             as if the entire room is flammable

          children in the bar tugging shirt sleeves
          on the bar like carry-on baggage

a papercut of sunlight
                                                   bloodless.
